"Red Chair" in vintage hand carved frame

I am so pleased to be presenting my new website at the original www.amyroemer.com address! I was off the map for a while, raising my daughter, moving halfway across the country, and all else that has unfolded in life. I am so excited to be sharing my art with you here!

Explore my gallery and comment if you feel moved to do so, I love to hear what you are getting from my artwork!

I am beginning to mix two loves, painting and exploring vintage shops! I did a lot of vintage shopping when I worked as a costumer in film and television, especially on shows like Dharma and Greg and Roseanne. My new painting “Red Chair” sat finished while I shopped at the Waukesha Antique Mall and found the perfect gold hand carved frame. It has an underpainting of red that peeks through the gold and brown, it’s a perfect piece to frame this painting I did, based on my daughter, Helen and her red chair, passed down through the family from her Grandmother. In the painting, the chair is connecting to the tree, it’s roots, while the child is reaching for the stars, the future. A message of nostaligia, hope, and connectedness all in one.
