About

Amy Roemer Fine Artist

My love of painting began in early childhood as I watched my grandfather and many other family members paint. To see how each person saw the same scene, person, idea in different ways and to be able to express it visually is what drew me to pursue art. I use a pure, vivid color palette and strong lines over fluid brush strokes to evoke emotions.

Born in 1971, I grew up in Westford, Massachusetts, with family on Plum Island and Cape Cod, a true East Coast experience! I lived in Boston and the Berkshires before moving to Los Angeles, CA where I worked as an illustrator and costumer on dozens of films, television shows, plays, and commercials. After 17 years on the West Coast, I relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with my husband, John and daughter, Helen. So, now I am enjoying my Mid-West/Great Lakes experience!

I attended Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, Santa Monica College in California, and studied under pastel artist Mark Miloff in Western Massachusetts Berkshire Mountains. My poetry has been published and awarded, my paintings were honored by an award from the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. My art has been shown in galleries, on television, and art festivals. My pieces are in the collections of several performing artists, including my painting “Your Song”, which is owned by singer/songwriter Alanis Morisette.  I have been a member of the West Coast Pastel Society, Ten Women Venice artists cooperative, and The Malibu Art Association.
